1. Where do you find yourself craving to go back when you’ve been to so many destinations?
Definitely, Bahrain!

2. Why is it that after exploring so many destinations, you always find yourself craving to go back to this specific destination? Is it nostalgia, a sense of comfort, familiarity, or something else? What exactly draws you back repeatedly?
What draws me back to Bahrain is its incredible diversity and the way it caters to everyone. On my first trip, I was struck by how much there was to do, regardless of your age or interests.
Exploring the city's attractions like the Al-Fateh Grand Mosque and the Bahrain National Museum has helped me appreciate the rich culture and history of the place. The sense of awe I felt standing in the mosque for the first time is something I’ve never forgotten.
There are some amazing waterparks in Bahrain for families, especially Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park, where I remember having a blast!
The nightlife in Bahrain is another aspect that keeps pulling me back. Whether it's dancing the night away in a vibrant club or enjoying a quiet drink in a cozy bar, the options are endless. I have fond memories of nights spent with new friends, enjoying music and laughter.
And then there’s the food. The variety and affordability of dining options make every meal an adventure. From savouring street food to dining in upscale restaurants, Bahrain never disappoints. One of my favourite experiences was at a small local eatery where I had the most delicious Machboos.
3. In your extensive travels, can you recount a specific moment or experience from this place you often revisit that truly stands out?
One standout experience in Bahrain was the first time I had a meal at Haji’s Café, the oldest café in the city. Sitting there in the open-air setting, savouring a traditional egg and tomato breakfast with chai kalat, was unforgettable. Afterward, I wandered through the Souq market. The combination of delicious food and the lively market made me feel deeply connected to Bahrain’s heritage.

4. Over the years, places can evolve and change. How have you witnessed the transformation of a destination you frequently revisit? How does this evolution affect your connection to the place?
Change is a natural part of life, and Bahrain is no exception. Every year, I notice new hotels, restaurants, and entertainment options springing up, providing more ways for visitors to engage with the local culture. However, the digital revolution and modernisation also remind us of the need for sustainable tourism to preserve the natural beauty of our favourite places.
5. With so many new destinations waiting for you to explore, why do you choose to revisit this particular destination?
Every place has its charm, but Bahrain holds a special place in my heart because of its diversity. I love interacting with the local people—they are incredibly humble and friendly, always ready to help. Plus, Bahrain is not too expensive, making it easy to enjoy a fulfilling visit.
Every place has its charm, but Bahrain holds a special place in my heart because of its diversity and the warmth of its people. My love for Bahrain began during my first visit, and each subsequent trip has only deepened that affection.
One main reason I keep returning is the incredible hospitality of the locals. I remember getting lost in Manama during my first visit, and a shopkeeper went out of his way to help me find my way, even walking with me for several blocks. This kind of genuine kindness makes every visit feel welcoming.
The food scene in Bahrain is also a delight. From savouring traditional dishes like Machboos at local eateries to exploring street food and high-end dining, I’ve never had a bad meal in Bahrain.
Additionally, Bahrain is quite affordable. One can enjoy a fulfilling visit without breaking the bank, indulging in activities like visiting water parks, beaches, and cultural sites without worrying too much about the cost. So, that’s another great advantage.

6. Even when you've covered substantial ground, there's often a desire for more exploration. How do you balance returning to a familiar place with your drive to discover new destinations?
Sometimes, returning to familiar places brings a sense of peace that exploring new destinations can’t match. Knowing a place well allows me to recharge and energise myself, preparing me for new journeys with renewed vigour.
7. What are your favourite places to eat at (local or popular) whenever you revisit?
Bahrain is renowned for its pearls and goldwork, but its culinary scene is equally impressive. The local Souq market is a must-visit for affordable shopping. Haji’s Café is one of my favourite spots to eat, serving delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Haji's Café really captures the heart of Bahrain. Located in the old souk next to Babel Bahrain, this open-air Arabic café (with indoor AC seating too) serves up some of the best local dishes. The egg and tomato breakfast, with a cup of chai kalat, a side of London soup (dal lentils), and freshly baked bread, is simply unbeatable. They open at 5:00 AM, perfect for early birds. For dinner, the lamb chops are amazing, but be sure to get there early before they sell out.

8. While well-known places often attract attention, there are hidden gems that hold a special place in our hearts. Could you reveal one such hidden gem you return to when you’re revisiting this destination and explain its allure?
One hidden gem that I always return to in Bahrain is Amwaj Island. Tucked away from the busier parts of the country, Amwaj Island perfect for relaxation and adventure.
A typical day for me there starts with a visit to the water park, which is fun for both kids and adults. The thrill of the water rides is a refreshing way to kick off the day. Afterward, there are various sports activities like jet skiing, paddleboarding, or swimming in the crystal-clear waters. The energy and excitement are infectious, making it easy to lose track of time.
As the day winds down, I like to head to Hotel Art for a meal. Their seafood platter is a standout, so fresh and bursting with flavour. Dining there by the serene view of the island's coastline, is always a treat.
I can’t imagine a trip to Bahrain without spending at least one day at Amwaj Island.
9. What are the specific spots you visit all over again at this destination and why?
Every time I visit Bahrain, the Bahrain National Museum is a must-visit. My first visit felt like stepping back in time, exploring ancient artifacts and traditional crafts. Each visit reveals something new about Bahrain’s rich history and culture, deepening my appreciation for the country.
The Downtown area is another favourite. Its vibrant energy, with a mix of modern shops and traditional markets, is captivating. I love discovering hidden gems like small, family-owned cafés serving incredible falafel. The lively street life and eclectic mix of old and new keep drawing me back.
Then there’s Souq market. The aroma of spices, colourful textiles, and lively haggling is such a delight. I enjoy getting lost in the narrow alleys, finding authentic souvenirs, and chatting with friendly vendors. It's chaotic in the best way possible.
Water parks in Bahrain are a big draw. I first visited on a sweltering summer day, and the mix of thrilling slides and relaxing pools was perfect. It’s a great way to cool off and have fun with friends or family.
Finally, the night bars in Bahrain offer a different experience. I love the vibrant yet laid-back nightlife. There are so many great rooftop bars with stunning city views. Sipping a cocktail while watching the sunset over the skyline is magical.
