Bareilly becomes the 8th airport to operate in Uttar Pradesh and 56th airport to be successfully inaugurated and operationalized under the UDAN scheme of the government of India. Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Sigh Puri flagged off the first flight from the newly opened Bareilly Airport. According to reports, the airport has been upgraded under UDAN for commercial flight operations and had all woman crew on the inaugural flight, March 8th to mark International Women’s Day.
The journey from Delhi to Bareilly usually takes approximately 6 hours by road and around 4 hours by train but now it can be completed within an hour. This air connectivity will now facilitate regular travelers visiting Bareilly for tourism or for pilgrimage visits and allow easier access to Bareilly from a number of destinations. Moreover, the flights from Delhi to Bareilly will operate every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The departing time from Bareilly will be 9am and the flight from Delhi will depart at 10.30am.
