Air India Expands Connectivity with New Routes for 2026

Discover Air India’s new routes for 2026.

India’s aviation network is set for a major boost in 2026, bringing better connectivity across key domestic and international destinations. These updates focus on making travel more convenient while linking some of India’s most iconic heritage, spiritual, and global hubs. With a mix of new routes, increased frequencies, and upgraded experiences, Air India is strengthening its position as a preferred choice for both leisure and business travellers.

Strengthening Domestic Connectivity Across Iconic Circuits

Starting 25 October 2026, new daily flights will connect Delhi, Khajuraho, and Varanasi, supporting the growing tri-city tourism circuit. This route makes it easier for travellers to explore India’s rich heritage and spiritual experiences in one seamless journey, from the historic temples of Khajuraho to the ghats of Varanasi.

A new daily non-stop service between Mumbai and Jaisalmer will also be introduced, improving access to Rajasthan’s desert destination. This addition complements existing winter services from Delhi, offering more convenient options to experience Jaisalmer’s forts, sand dunes, and cultural charm.

Connectivity to Gaya will further improve with an additional daily frequency from Delhi. With both morning and afternoon departures, travellers will have greater flexibility when planning visits to this important spiritual destination. These domestic enhancements reflect how Air India is focusing on strengthening key travel circuits within the country.

Expanding Global Reach with New International Routes

On the international front, Air India is introducing several new routes to improve global connectivity. From 15 June 2026, four weekly non-stop flights will operate between Mumbai and Tokyo Haneda, making it easier to explore Japan’s culture, energy, and modern lifestyle.

From 1 August 2026, services from London Heathrow Airport will extend to Bengaluru using the Airbus A350-900. This route strengthens connectivity between the UK and India’s leading technology hub, while also enhancing long-haul travel options.

Earlier in 2026, from 25 March, four weekly non-stop flights began connecting Delhi and Rome, offering direct access to one of Europe’s most historically rich and culturally significant cities. Through these additions, Air India continues to expand its global footprint.

Enhanced Connectivity across Asia

Asia remains a key focus area, with expanded routes aimed at improving regional access. Starting 1 May 2026, five weekly non-stop flights will operate between India and Hanoi, complementing the existing daily non-stop services to Ho Chi Minh City. This gives travellers more flexibility to explore Vietnam’s diverse landscapes and vibrant cities.

As of February 2026, four weekly non-stop flights between Delhi and Shanghai have resumed, marking the airline’s return to mainland China after nearly six years. This move helps reconnect important travel and business corridors between the two regions.

In addition, the airline will operate 52 flights every week between India and Singapore, providing greater choice, flexibility, and convenience for both business and leisure travellers. These developments further highlight Air India’s focus on strengthening its presence across Asia.

Elevating the Travel Experience

Beyond connectivity, there is a strong emphasis on improving the overall travel experience. Air India has received the APEX Award for Best Entertainment in Central & Southern Asia, recognising its efforts in enhancing onboard entertainment and service quality.

On the ground, the newly introduced Maharaja Lounge sets a new benchmark in premium travel experiences. Spread across 16,000 square feet, the lounge reflects a refreshed brand philosophy that combines heritage-inspired elegance with modern luxury. It features dedicated Business and First Class sections, along with curated spaces such as the Aviator’s Bar, Globetrotter’s Study, Crystal Bar, Serenity Area, First Class sleep suites, and views of the runway, offering a comfortable and refined pre-flight experience.

Overall, with its latest offerings, Air India provides a strong push towards better connectivity and improved travel experiences. With enhanced domestic routes, expanded international access, and upgraded services, Air India is making travel more seamless and efficient. Whether travelling within India or flying abroad, passengers can expect greater flexibility, convenience, and comfort in their journeys.
